I have a male pinto keet that has lived longer than any other guinea I’ve ever owned. My guineas free range and if one survives three years he’s a lucky biddie! This pinto is six years old and doing fine even though he sometimes chooses to roost in the hen house with the hens rather than make that long flight up in the tree with the rest of the young sprouts. I guess he’s got a touch of arthritis. Sometimes a bad case of bumblefoot will bring one down to the hen house for a spell until I can get him cured up. There is something surprising about this old boy in that, for my neck of the woods at least (southern Georgia), lighter coloured guineas tend to be more susceptible to predation than the darker colours, I presume because it’s harder for them to conceal themselves. And we host about every predator known to man in these parts. However, this feller, whose name happens to BE Feller, is bucking the trend. I say long live Feller!!! lol!!
